Achieving audio perfection isn’t easy. You need top-notch speakers, a premium AVR, and high-resolution content. You’ll also need an entirely different room setup because most spaces aren’t designed with acoustics in mind. So unless you’re building a home from scratch—or live in a really cool circular space (like a Hobbit?!)—there’s not a lot of options to improve your acoustic layout. That’s where Dirac Live Room Correction technology comes in.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Dirac Live Room Correction?
A game-changer in the world of audio calibration, Dirac Live fixes the problems associated with square and rectangular spaces. Named after Nobel Prize-winning mathematician, Paul Dirac, Dirac Live Room Correction technology utilizes sophisticated algorithms to meticulously analyze your room’s acoustics, identify problematic frequency distortions, and perfectly balance the sound for your unique room and speaker layout.
Is Dirac Live really included in my Onkyo AVR?
You can dive into the world of premium audio calibration right away with select Onkyo AVRs’ built-in Dirac Live Room Correct Full Bandwidth. No upgrade required—better sound is built into your Onkyo device.
Is there an upgrade fee to use Dirac Live Room Correction with my Onkyo AVR?
There's no fee. With built-in Dirac Live Room Correction, your system has the full audio potential built right in. Just setup and go.
What is Dirac Live Bass Control?
Dirac Live Bass Control (DLBC) seamlessly integrates with your regular Dirac Live room correction system. Targeting and correcting the low-frequency resonances and room modes that can cause distorted or muddled bass, DLBC prevents your speakers or subs from working unnecessarily hard while providing a tighter, cleaner bass response.

How does Dirac Live Room Correction work?
Dirac Live Room Correction measures frequency for those creating problematic distortions.
It then applies precise adjustments, amplifying certain frequencies while weakening others, ensuring that the sound reaches your ears at precisely the right moment no matter how your room is laid out or what speakers you use.
Would Dirac help my speaker system sound better, even if it’s just a couple speakers?
Absolutely. The real issue that Dirac Live will correct is the distortion of frequency created by a rectangular or odd shaped room. Dirac Live Room Correction will allow any speaker setup to live up to its full potential.
I got an error while taking the Dirac measurement. How can I fix this?
There are three significant error codes shown on the Onkyo controller App.
- Error code DU102: The subwoofer volume may be too loud. Please adjust the subwoofer volume and measure again.
- Error code DU104: The subwoofer volume may be too low. Please adjust the subwoofer volume and measure again.
- Error code DU106: Measurement failed because the noise level was too high. Tap the Level Adjust button, turn up the volume a little and then measure again.
