Are you a fan of streaming music? If you found this page, it’s likely that you are!
Sonos changed the game in streaming audio software and hardware over their 20+ years of innovation in the category. The Sonos app has been enjoyed by millions of users worldwide, and for good reason…it’s inclusion of all the best streaming services; all delivered in an intuitive, easy-to-navigate app.
Onkyo, a global leader in home audio AV immersive and hi-fi components, understands the value and benefit of the Sonos platform.
How are these two leaders in high-performance audio related?
All network equipped Onkyo AV receivers are Works with Sonos Certified!

Onkyo network AV receivers are certified by the Works with Sonos program. In short, when using a Sonos Port with your Onkyo AVR, you can use the Sonos app to directly control the Onkyo AV receiver. The benefit is that the Sonos app can power on the AVR, switch to the Sonos Port connection, and even control the AVR volume—all from the Sonos App!
Let’s explore what makes Onkyo the best Works with Sonos AV receivers available.
• Officially certified relationship between Sonos and Onkyo engineering teams.
• You can add up to 3 Sonos Ports to a 3 zone Onkyo AV receiver (for example, the TX-RZ30 can assign amp channels to power Zones 2 and 3). You can assign each Port to a different zone, or combine zones per Port.
• Volume Pass-Through. By selecting “Volume Pass Through” in the Sonos App, the app will control the actual volume of each AVR zone. Why is this special? By using this setting, the full digital signal reaches the Onkyo AVR, delivering max resolution to the AVR.
For a deeper dive, let’s look at the revisions Onkyo engineers have made to the Works with Sonos integration. This is a testament to our commitment to ensure a seamless Sonos integration!
