Takeshi Godai, the founder of Onkyo, began his journey in his family's bicycle shop, where he developed a passion for high-quality Japanese craftsmanship. After working alongside Konosuke Matsushita at the Matsushita Electric Industrial Company (now Panasonic), Takeshi sought to create his own legacy in post-war Japan. In 1946, he founded Onkyo, meaning "sound harmony" in Japanese, reflecting his commitment to producing audio solutions with precision and passion. Since then, Onkyo has remained a leader in consumer electronics innovation, rooted in Osaka.
At Onkyo, our goal is to establish a global center of technology, centered around our Premium Audio Company Technology Center in Osaka. With a dedicated team who collectively bring over 1,300 years of industry experience and an average of 22 years of service, we are committed to driving excellence in audio engineering. Onkyo and the Premium Audio Company Technology Center will serve as an innovative hub where our engineers collaborate to develop the next generation of audio products, blending our rich legacy with cutting-edge technology. This center is pivotal in enhancing our commitment to delivering high-performance audio solutions globally, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the audio industry.
